Hallo, you find me in Glasgow preparing for literally a flying trip to Germany for a little performance later followed by Glühweins, Bratwursts and Biers in the Weihnachtsmarkt. Right, enough of ze Deutsch. It’s been quite a month for us as we’ve come alive and kicking back into the arena.
Now, it all grinded back into gear at Hootananny Inverness. Our love affection with that place is well known and it didn’t disappoint. It was the first airing of 4 new pieces and there can be no better way to throw in new material than at Hoots Inverness. More on that soon.
Next up was Stramash in the capital. Edinburgh is a city which we have definitely under played as a band so it was fantastic to be there. It was one that we were really looking forward to but I could probably say that it ended up in my top 5 favourite Gleadhraich shows ever. What a party Stramash was! The place was jumping, dancing, whooping like you can’t imagine. I had a moment there where I stared out at the people going wild in front of us and just thought ‘I love this’. There aren’t many better feelings I can assure you..
The following night was the annual Home Start Dundee fundraising concert which is always a great show. Very chilled out and a good listening crowd. It was great to see a bucket-loada cash raised for such a great cause.
We finished the month on Irish shores for the first time. We should have been in Belfast on board the Belfast Barge but due to unforeseen circumstances the show was pulled on two days prior. Very thankfully, the wonderful people at the Goat’s Toe in Bangor, County Down, just up the road stepped in to save the day. And save the day they did! We were on right after the town’s Christmas lights went on and what a party we had. It turned into a really special night before a retreat back to the Band house for a game of Saucy Charades which interestingly had been left for us. Interesting indeed.
So incredibly we are looking ahead to December and we’ve still two more shows for you to get your lugs around. The first of those is back in London at Hootananny Brixton. Personally it’s a show I’ve looked forward to for months and I know it’s gonna be a special one. We conclude the year at Hootananny Inverness again. We are delighted to be playing the Hootananny Hogmanay party and know it’ll be a great celebration to kick off what is going to be an incredible year in 2018. Trust us on that one .
Off to drink some Glühwein. Auf weidersehen.
